CALVERT ULTREYA
February 9, 2009
LEADERS: Joe and Cassie Garcia
Joe and Trudy Mihalcik
This is a summary of our
February 9th Ultreya gathering. We met in the Columbus Room of the
Gathering: Our opening song was “Here I Am Lord”. Music for the evening was provided by Pete Abresch on his banjo and Carlos Victoria on the bongos.
Welcome and Opening Prayer: Cassie
welcomed all new and returning members and prayed from the prayers for the
beginning of Lent, since Ash Wednesday would soon be here.
Introductions: After our opening prayer we introduced ourselves and
shared information about our Cursillo weekend. (This is why it is a good idea to wear your
“cookie”) We were especially happy to
see a few visitors who have not yet made a Cursillo
weekend.
Small Group Sharing:
In order to form into smaller
discussion groups, we counted off by 8s.
We spent about 15 minutes In our small groups, sharing
our experiences of piety, study and action since our last meeting.
Regathering:
Our Gathering Song was “Eagles
Wings”
Witness Talk: Chuck Knapper was our witness speaker. He shared with us his decision to be a
volunteer for Hospice. After joining, he
realized that he was called to something more personal and with greater
responsibility towards the Hospice clients.
He took courses at the community college to become a Hospice health care
worker and has been moved by his experience as a care giver for Hospice. He has felt that God called him to something
more and he is humbled to accept the call.
