Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

A Journey of Faith

RCIA WEEK 1

The Journey Begins / Intros / Overview of RCIA / Q&A

Talk Outline

This first session is an informal meeting for everyone to get to know each other, to share faith stories, to ask questions, and to learn how the RCIA program will work for the year.

RCIA is an acronym for the “Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults”.  There are four stages in RCIA:

-        Precatechumenate (ends First Sunday of Advent)

-        Catechumenate (ends at Rite of Elect)

-        Purification & Enlightenment (ends at Easter Vigil)

-        Mystagogy (after Easter until end of RCIA)

This “journey in faith” is not intended to simply make new Catholics, but to present the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith and to help those on the journey to move into a closer relationship with God as true disciples of Jesus Christ

MEDITATION:  How can I become closer to God?  Am I a true disciple of Jesus Christ?

“If you set out to meet God, He will come to meet you”.   -- St. John Vianney
