MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
8 September 2009

1. Opening prayer:  Led by Pete Abresch

2. Welcome:  The president welcomed everyone.  There were 18 members present.

3. Secretary Report – The August Meeting Highlights were previously distributed to all members via email.  As there were no corrections or additions, the minutes were accepted as distributed.

4. Treasurer Report – In the absence of the Treasurer, Maurice Erly reported that we are in the Black for monthly meeting operations.  He also reported that the Events Budget is also in the black.

5. Pastor’s Report – No Pastor’s report, Father Daly did not attend.

6. Committee reports – Negative report.  The President is planning to form an awards committee and a nominating committee.  Contact him if you are interested in serving.

7. Activity Reports:

            Old Business –

·        Special Projects:  As discussed last month, Jack McFadden has compiled a list of “Special Projects” that Father would like to see done.  Bruce Brooks has assumed the leadership for the Vianney Lane curb, sidewalk lighting and paving.  Jack is still looking for someone to lead the Vianney Room renovation Project.  Jack is also looking for volunteers to help with several Family Life Center projects (adding 12 new lights and installing more acoustic panel in the gym).  Contact Jack if you are interested in taking responsibility for any of the projects.

·        Kitchen Clean up, originally scheduled for July 25th, has been rescheduled for October 10th.  Dickie Hayes and Larry Donnelly are coordinating.

·        Steve Pedone reported that the Knight’s of Columbus/Doug Sparrow golf tournament was a big success.  50 golfers attended, and the event made $1750.

New Business

·        Sunset Boat Cruise: Jack Yatsko reported that 41 people have signed up for the event, scheduled for September 12th from 6 to 9 PM.  Cost is $17.50 per person.  We will travel on the William B. Tennison out of the Calvert Marine Museum.

·        The Annual Crab Feast is scheduled for Friday, October 2 at 6:30 PM in the Vianney room.  A point of contact is needed to coordinate activities.  George Sullivan was nominated from the floor and the President agreed to contact him to see if he is interested.  A discussion followed concerning the availability of crabs and other related activities.  Volunteers are needed to help Dickie secure the 5 bushels we need.  Interested members should contact Dickie or Joe Garcia directly.

·        Steve Pedone announced that the Men’s Club Fall Golf Outing will be held on Monday October 12th.  Contact Steve if you are interested.

·        The Annual Shrimp and Oysters feast is scheduled for December 4, the first Friday in December.  This will also serve as our December meeting and election of officers.  Steve Pedone volunteered to act as coordinator.

·        Dickie Hayes is looking into when Safe Nights will be starting again, and what weeks we’ll be covering.

·        Jack McFadden reported on some of the Project ECHO happenings.  The dedication is set for October 3rd.  The Project is asking for donations so that they can finish securing interior items.  Jack suggested that monetary contributions are best since it allows the most flexibility for ECHO.  The trundle beds, that Jack and the Catholic Heart volunteers built, were delivered.  There are pictures on the website.
