MEETING HIGHLIGHTSJune 7, 2010
1. Opening Prayer: The opening prayer was given by Father Daley.
2. Welcome: The president welcomed everyone and briefly covered the agenda for the evening. 16 members were present and no new members.
3. Secretary’s Report: Bill Scharpf reported that the April meeting highlights were unavailable at the meeting due to a format mismatch. The minutes will be distributed by email to all members. Any changes can be made via email and Jack can then up-loaded to church’s website.
4. Treasurers Report: Maurice was unavailable, so Joe gave the report. He reported we are currently in the black for about $800. We still owe Pat some money for the Mother’s day Breakfast. We have about +$60 for the monthly meeting expenses. Last month we donated $114 to the Youth group ($100 plus Jack’s 50/50 winnings). We received a thank you note from the Washington retreat house for the $100 we donated last month.
5. Pastor’s Report:
· The Church made $3700 from the yard sale. The Youth Groups made $500 at the Car Wash and another $500 at the Applebee’s Night. The money from the yard sale will be used to repair the air conditioning in the Family Life Center.
· Six people from the parish are going to Nicaragua to: Visit 10 families who will be getting houses, 10 families who will be getting houses. By the time of this trip, we will have built over 50 houses.
· On July 6th Father Alliata moves into his house. Father thanked us for all the help the Men’s club did in fixing up the house.
· A small group of our youth will be going to South Carolina for a Catholic Work Camp. We are still looking for male chaperones. We will be hosting our own work camp on July 25 to 31. We are also looking for help with our own camp.
· Peggy Braham will going to a conference in Detroit to learn more about the changes in the literary. Most of the changes will be minor.
· On June 18th, there will be a Cancer Walk at Hollowing Point park. Father says it is worth seeing.
· The Redfield will be leaving the parish for a while. They have purchased a RV and plan to tour the country. Father is looking for someone to take over all the activities that Bill Redfields has been doing to supporting our troops.
