MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
December 4, 2009

The December meeting of the Men’s Club was held in the Vianney Room of the Church.  Over 40 members were present.  In addition to the normally monthly business meeting, the annual oyster feast and election of officers for the coming year was held.

 

1. Opening Prayer:  At the request of the President, Ed Waskiewicz led us all in an opening prayer.

 

2. Welcome:  The president welcomed everyone and briefly covered the agenda for the evening.  He noted that the business part of the meeting would be short so that we could proceed to enjoy the oysters and socialization.

 

3. Secretary’s Report: The November Meeting Highlights were previously distributed to all members via e mail.  As there were no corrections or additions, the Highlights were accepted as distributed and will be posted by Jack McFadden on the Church website. 

 

4. Treasurers Report:  In the absence of the Treasurer, Maurice Erly reported that we are solvent by several hundred dollars.  A detailed report by club event will be forthcoming in January.  The budget will be structured to show our finances by monthly meeting intake/expenditures and event expenditures, such as Shrove Tuesday, etc.

-         Awards Committee:

The committee Chair, Jack Yatsko was ill so Dave Hogenson presented the jacket we that has been selected for purchase.  It is fully lined and the lettering will be monogrammed directly on the jacket.  Jackets are $35 and there is a $3 charge to have your name added.  Contact Jack to add your name to the order form.  Checks should be made out to St John Vienney Church.

Award Certificates:  The President awarded certificates to club members for their contributions during 2009.  Chuck Knapper was recognized for coordinating the 2009 St Valentine Social; Maury Mattingly for coordinating the Men’s Retreat; Chris Burton for Coordinating the Shrove Tuesday Dinner; Larry Donnelly for coordinating the Mothers Day Breakfast and serving as food consultant to other events; Jack Yatsko for coordinating two evening cruses; Steve Padone for coordinating the Crab and the Oyster Dinner; George Sullivan for his contributions toward the Crab Dinner.  Dickie Hayes had been recognized in November for his work with the Crab Dinner.  John Thorp for his service as Treasurer; Jack McFadden for his service as Web Master;

 

Nominating Committee:

Larry Donnelly as Chairman reported and posted the names of the 2010 slate of officers.  There were no nominations from the floor.  The slate was unanimously approved.  The new officers are

7 Activity Reports:

            Old Business:

 

  • Project Echo: Father Daly reported that bids are in on the demo of the Old Echo House.. Once that is completed we will be looking for volunteers to landscape the property.  Dickie Hayes and Joe Garcia will salvage the aluminum siding prior to the demolition. 

 

  • Youth Ministers’ House: Men’s club volunteers helped clean, paint, and secure furniture for the house.  Dickie Hayes installed the new dishwasher.  The youth minister plans to move in around the 11th of December

  • God’s Gift Store: The occupancy permit has not been issued so the new sign cannot be installed.

            New Business:   Tabled until the January meeting.
