MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
May 2, 2011

 

 

1.  Opening Prayer:  The opening prayer was given by Father Pete Alliata

 

2. Welcome:  The president welcomed everyone and briefly covered the agenda for the evening.  There were 23 men present.  One new member, Gordon Norwood

 

3. Secretary’s Report: The secretary gave a brief report of the minutes of last month’s meeting

 

4. Treasurers Report:  Scott reported that we had $1400 starting balance.  He reported that Shrove Tuesday brought in $2200 - $500 expenses, $1700 total. 

 

5. Pastor’s Report: 

·         No Pastor’s report due to Father Daly’s absence.

8.  Old Business:

·         Fishing, golfing, social trip to Chincotenque from May 11-16, cost is $120.

·         Mother’s Day Breakfast put on by the Men’s club is the second Sunday, which is May 8th.  This will be two weeks of Breakfast’s in a row, as May 1st is First Sunday Breakfast.  Larry Donnelly needs help both Sundays.

·         Boat Trip is Sept 10.

·         President recognized the Play Cast from the Drama Ministry Play “The Malchus Affair”.  

7. Activities Reports: New Business

·         Recognition and Thank you Banquet for Saint John Vianney Volunteers on May 11th

·         Catholic Heart Work Camp July 10-16, four days of work, signups in back up church for volunteers.  Need Sites for work, contact Steve or Jan Pedone

·         Father Daly’s 25th Anniversary of Ordination on June 29th, Dinner/Dance Event on June 25th, $30 per person, Prime Rib, upscale, formal.

·         Cookout next meeting June 6 at Pavilion at 7:00PM

·         Father Pete Alliata’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination, Celebration on May 28th, taking place at Immaculate Conception in Mechanicsville. 

·         Elroy’s Wedding on May 28th in the Morning at Saint John Vianney.

·         Men’s Club Golf Outing is in Aug-Sept time-frame.  Pay at tournament, not collecting.  More Details next meeting.

·         Gordon Norwood, new member is a Commerical Fisherman and will donate Crabs for Fall Crab Feast

·         The President recognized Don Mueller and Daryl Ahne for putting on a Cursillo Weekend for the Prison Inmates.  He stated with this program, the return rate of prisoners to jail is Eight times less than without the program.
