Report (Larry Smialek)
- James
Devine (JDW), a 4th Degree Knight, has requested transfer to
this Council. His request was
approved.
- Six
candidates have requested acceptance to 1st Degree status. Four have been interviewed and
approved. They are;
- Michael
Bischof (JDW)
- Robert
Bryson (JDW)
- Thomas
Elgesem (JDW)
- Tony
Esser (JDW)
- A new
process for withdrawals from the Council has been promulgated by the Supreme
Knight. Copies are available for
all Knights.
Grand Knight Report
(DGK)
- The
108th K of
C Maryland State Convention will be held in Ocean City, MD
from 5/19 to 5/21. The GK has
campaign information for State Warden candidates.
- A
Domestic Violence Program will be held 6/6 at 7PM in JDW Doran Hall.
- The
American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will be held on 6/16 at the Patuxent High School. Register online at www.acsevents.org/relay/calvert.
- The
Southern Maryland Community Charity Network 10th Annual Golf
Tournament will be held 6/21 at Twin Shields Golf Club. Price is $125 per player.
- K of C
Night at the Orioles vs Washington Nationals
Baseball Game will be held Friday, 6/23.
Price is $11 per ticket.
Ticket order deadline is May 31, 2006.
- Council
sponsorship of a child in the Holy Land
was discussed as were applications for the Father Michael J. McGivney
Guild.
- Elections
for the 2006 – 2007 Fraternal Year are scheduled for Thursday, June
8.

Chancellor’s Report
(John O’Connor)
- First
Friday Adoration at JDW has been going very well. Good attendance by Knights at this event
spurs membership as parishioners note a high level of Knight’s
participation.
- A gift
to each of the Confirmations and First Communion participants from the
Knights would be a very strong outreach.
A rosary was suggested. SK
McClanahan will look into the costs involved.

o All
night Eucharistic Adoration at JDW will occur on 6/2 – 6/3 from 7PM to
8.45AM. Light refreshments will be
served after 9AM mass in Doran Hall.
Breakfast after Mass will resume in Sept.

Community
(Larry Donnelly)
o Dedication
of the Memorial to the Unborn occurred on 5/8 at SJV. Thank you to Father Daly, Larry Donnelly,
Elroy and Pat McLeod. GK will coordinate
publishing picture of Memorial in the Columbian magazine.
o GK
is coordinating an Art Action fundraiser for Jeff Gott.
On 6/3 or 6/10. Location is yet to be
determined.
o The
SJV mission trip to Our Lady of Mercy Parish will occur from 6/15 – 6/23. Contact Jack McFadden at 410.535.1587 if
interested in attending. Goal will be to
install windows to finish their Parish building.
o .End
of Fraternal Year cookout will be held at Father Dan’s house on Friday, 6/9,
from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.
- Family (Rob Sullivan)
- MaryGold program to give each mother at SJV and JDW a
flower as a way to thank them for “choosing life” will occur on 5/14 at
all SJV and JDW masses. Help is
needed to ensure no one is missed.
- Youth (Robert Cross)
o An
effort is underway to build a life-size Rosary for the youth at both JDW and
SJV. GK is coordinating with owner of
A-1 Pool Care in Solomon’s who is willing to donate materials for the first
Rosary. GK has asked John Hayden and
Carl McClanahan to help build the crosses.
Old Business -None
New Business
- Motion
to pay the bills was proposed and passed.
- New
Council officials will be elected next Business meeting.
4th Degree
Report: (Ed Waskiewica)
- Council
needs more 4th degree volunteers for the Color Guard. A very high demand for their services
often requires attendance at several events per day throughout the month.
- Need
support for the Mexican Saints relics at the Basilica on Mother’s Day.
Fraternal Benefits
Advisor Report (Bill Guinane)
- The
Provider Pathway program for long-term care services has expanded its
services to include one stop shopping for hearing aids, diabetic supplies,
skilled nursing facilities, personal emergency response systems, adult day
care, assisted living residences and durable medical equipment. K of C Long Term Care Insurance
policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and
parents-in-law are eligible.

District Deputy
Report (Jim Rank):
- 3rd
Degree ceremony will be held Friday, 5/12 in Bowie.
Fr Dan Leary, Fr Soley and John
Montgomery are expected candidates.
- Everyone
should help ensure that all Knights know about the K of C insurance benefits. All Knights should take the necessary
steps to ensure their wives and children are provided for should they no
longer be able to do so.
