Minutes of the August 25, 2005 meeting were read and
approved with corrections.
Grand Knight Report
- Hurricane
Katrina Relief was discussed at length.
The SJV shelter planning is completed and ready for guests,
however, it looks as though guests will not be coming this far north in
any number. Lessons learned in
preparation for the shelter effort will be captured and retained for
future use.
- SJV
parish has sent several thousand dollars worth of Wal-Mart cards to the
Gulf coast parishes and will be sending a truck loaded with supplies and
cloths very soon.
- Boy
Scouts spaghetti dinner will be held at 4PM on 9/16 to raise money for the
relief effort.
- Initial
relief of $40,000 was sent from the Supreme Council to councils in Louisiana, Mississippi,
Alabama, and Florida ($10,000 each). Overall, $2.5M has been pledged by the
Supreme Council.
- The
new Officer Installment ceremony and dinner held 8/27 was successful and
very well attended.
- September
11 is the World Day of Prayer for Peace.
A prayer from the Supreme Council was distributed to all Knights.
- Raffle
sales: Sales will continue through
10/01/05 (1800+ tickets left to sell).

SJV sales date is being
coordinated.

- Columbus
Day Ball will be held Saturday 10/8 at LaFountaine
Bleu – Glen Burnie. Money for tickets will be turned in
during week of 9/12. Price is $35
per person.
- Knights
of Columbus Cardinal’s Charity Ball Kick-off Dinner: Fundraising efforts for Lt Joseph P
Kennedy Institute will be held on Sept 29, 6PM at the Institute’s
headquarters.
- Letter
was received from the Supreme Council regarding the modernized 1st
Degree Ceremonial. New books are
being printed and distributed.
- Tootsie
Roll Drive
will occur October through December.
Robert Sullivan has volunteered to chair the Drive. Money raised goes to mentally handicapped. GK
has talked to the Calvert County Fair Board about sales at the event. It was decided to pursue a Youth Day
table on Sept 30.

deposits for the month of $1,930.36 and disbursements of $601.47 leaving an account balance of
$2,718.66

Program
Chairman:
- Soccer
shoot-out is back on the schedule and was scheduled to occur Sept 25 @ SJV.
- A
Certificate of Appreciation for the Family of the Month effort was
received from the State Deputy.
- Information
was received from the Maryland State Council charity fund. We have participated in this effort in
past.
- Pro-Life
information was received from the Supreme Council
Old Business
- The
$200 dollar check for Lord Baltimore Assembly was completed
- Planning
for the Calvert
Marine Museum
tour and Council Picnic for September 24 has been completed. Knights ID is sufficient to gain Museum
access for all day. A small
pavilion has been reserved at the Navy Recreation
Center for the
Council Picnic for $90 noon to dark.
Names are needed by 19 Sept for base access.
- Deck
work for the JDW trailers has been postponed.
- Memorial
to the Unborn Dedication will occur at SJV on Oct 1, 05.
- A list
of widows for Knights VIP cards is needed.
New Business
- A Columbia story
concerning returning Knights from Iraq/Afghanistan was reviewed. Story talked to the role of their faith
n the lives before, during and after their war experience. Do we know anyone locally who has seen
such service.
- A
Haunted House fundraising activity for Halloween was discussed.
- Future
months will include one business meeting and one social meeting per
month. This meeting will be counted
as the business meeting with the 22nd meeting a social meeting.

Report: No report
No Insurance report
District Deputy
Report: Knights need to step up to
service in times of great need such as the Hurricane Katrina relief. Supreme Council has committed significant dollar aid to the disaster
relief. We need to do our part. Deputy also asked us to help the Little
sister of the Poor. Goal is to raise $25,
000.
Good of the Order: Jerry and Janice Lyn Murrow were named
the Family of the Month
