Grand Knight Report

GK briefly discussed Grand Knight School at Mount St. Mary’s, Emmitsburg, MD.

He provided an outline of this meeting which included a schedule of Incentive Drive ticket sales dates and locations. The first date will be Sat., July 16 to be conducted at Giant. See attachment for remaining schedule for Giant, Safeway and Wal-Mart. It is important to maximize this effort since we will not be working games at U MD this year.

A brochure on the Duties of Council Officers was provided.

On August 31, 2005, Maryland State Council will conduct program and membership seminars for Chairmen of our Committees. This will be held at Friendship Hall at Sacred Heart Church in LaPLata, MD. See hand-out for further details and directions.

Maryland State Council calendar of events is also in packet and attached.

Note that the Installation of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Officers is scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Jesus, the Divine Word Church. Mass will be at 1700 with the Installation to follow. Reception will then be in Doran Hall. This meets our Chaplain, Rev. Milton Jordan’s schedule. (Maryland State Council’s Family picnic is also being held that date. It is possible for some to attend the picnic in the early afternoon and return for Mass and Installation later.)

GK Bayliff also provided copies of the State newsletter.

Reading of Applications

An application for transfer of Lawrence Mattivi from Bishop McNamara Council No. 1622, in Frederick, MD, to 11259 was read and accepted. One new application from Jose Barahana-Roldan was read to Council. The application for Nicholas Wallmark is in progress. Interviews are required for the latter two.

Bills for refreshments were submitted by the Lecturer; read and approved by the Trustees.

Treasurer’s Report

In whole dollars, at the beginning of this meeting, the account balances are: checking  $1200; CD $8615; and savings $13, 512.

Financial Secretary’s Report

Monies were taken in for dues and early ticket sales; and paid for refreshments, per-capita to State and Supreme, pocket badges, and reimbursement to Convention Delegate.

Report of Committees

Three (3) Seminarians will be supported this year. Mr. Polak reported that he, Mr. McClanahan, and Mr. Donnelly are administering a loose change collection program at our 3 parishes as a means of support. This will hopefully replace previous source of “income”.

Old Business

A committee of Messrs. McFadden, McClanahan, Gonzales and Smialek will again present a list of “requirements” for OLSOW Council space in the basement of St. John Vianney Church.

OLSOW Family Day and Picnic will be held in September at Calvert Marine Museum. Mr. Doug Wood is chairing and hosting the affair. He will finalize the date and will seek permission for us to bring our grills for the BBQ in their back lot. (Other picnics to which we are invited are 7/31 @ St. Anthony’s and 9/18 @ Jesus, the Divine Word.)

New Business

Motion to pay bills was passed.

http://www.kofc11259.us/ is being populated with information by Mr. McFadden. We are in need of digital pictures and information for the website.

Fourth Degree Report

SK Larry Smialek, PFN spoke of the “Flag Day” celebration conducted on Sat., June 18, 2005. The Color Guard and Honor Guard lead the afternoon with prayers and salutes to Messrs. Bill Goodman, Frank Rosser, and Ray Westcott, our fallen Brothers buried in SJV cemetery. The Color Corps then marched through the lobby of the Vianney Room to the Pavilion where Colors were posted, Star-Spangled Banner was sung, and Pledge of Allegiance recited. Picnic and games followed. The evening ended at sundown with an educational session on the Flag of the United States, then a description of the parts of our flag, and finally a dignified burning of about a dozen Maryland Flags and about 3 dozens US flags. Ashes were buried on the Vianney field grounds.

On Sat. July 23, 2005, Installation of the new Faithful Navigator, Edward Waskiewicz, and his officers of the Lord Baltimore Assembly No. 2470, will be held at SJV.
